Aliplast: Silver certified aluminum systems

Aliplast Sp. z o.o. develops and distributes quality aluminum systems for windows, doors, sliding elements, curtain walls, and roof systems. The company was established in Lublin, Poland, in 2002 and is part of the Corialis Group, a global player in the design and manufacturing of aluminum systems.

C2C Platform has partnered with the Corialis Group for several years. In 2020, we helped Aliplast NV in Belgium obtain a Cradle to Cradle Certified ® Bronze certificate for several of its aluminum windows, doors, cladding and sliding systems. As the cradle to cradle concept seamlessly fits the Group strategy, we also partnered with their Polish counterpart in 2021.

Specifically, we supported Aliplast Sp. z o.o. in the certification of twelve different systems: aluminum systems for window doors, sliding doors and façade walls as well as fireproof systems. We assessed these products against version 3.1 of the Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Standard.

Complex product compositions

The challenge with aluminum and fireproof systems is the complexity of their composition. Fireproof systems, for example, contain different geological materials which proof difficult to certify in the category Material Health.

Aliplast Sp. z o.o. and C2C Platform could successfully complete the certification process by uniting our areas of expertise:

• On one hand, the R&D department of Aliplast Sp. z o.o. had in-depth knowledge of the technical details and composition of the products.
• On the other hand, the C2C Experts used their background in and deep understanding of environmental science and product development to assess per product what was needed to obtain the certificate and what required improvement.

C2C Platform kept the lead throughout the certification project and liaised with different suppliers of Aliplast to obtain the required information on the raw materials that are used in the products.

Gold level in Renewable Energy

In the summer of 2021, Aliplast Sp. z o.o. received the Cradle to Cradle Certified certification on the Silver level for twelve assessed products:

• Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver for the aluminum systems for windows, doors, sliding doors
• Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver for the fireproof systems

Moreover, all assessed systems achieved the Gold level for the category Renewable Energy & Carbon Management in version 3.1 of the Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Standard.

C2C Platform is now continuing the collaboration with the Corialis Group by assisting the recertifications for the Cradle to Cradle products of Aliplast NV in Belgium and Profils Systèmes in France.
